Birkbeck, University of London is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. The Contragestive Time project team manages this information day to day on Birkbeck's behalf, and a member of the team monitors the project inbox.

2. What Information We Collect

When you submit the contact form, we collect the personal information you give us. This may include your name, email address, subject and the content of your message.

If you tick the box to receive occasional updates, we also keep your name and email address so that we can send you project updates.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your information on the following bases:

• Legitimate interests. We use the details you submit through the contact form to respond to your enquiry and keep a record of correspondence, which we need to run the project effectively.

• Consent. If you tick the box to receive occasional updates, we use your name and email address to send you project updates by email. This is optional and does not affect how we respond to your enquiry.

You can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time by replying to any update or emailing contragestive-time@bbk.ac.uk. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing we carried out before you withdrew it.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to:

• Respond to your enquiry

• Keep an internal record of correspondence

• Send you occasional project updates, if you have opted in

We will not use your information for any other purpose without your explicit consent.

5. Where Your Information Is Stored

The contact form is provided by our website platform, Framer. When you submit it, your details are sent to the project's email inbox (contragestive-time@bbk.ac.uk), where they are stored as part of our correspondence.

If you opt in to receive occasional updates, we add your name and email address to a private, access-restricted spreadsheet held within Birkbeck's secure institutional systems.

Where any of our service providers process data outside the UK, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as an adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses, so that your information receives an equivalent level of protection wherever it is processed.

6. Who Has Access

Only authorised members of the project team who need your information to respond to enquiries or send project updates can access it. We do not sell, rent or share your information with third parties, except:

• Where it is necessary to respond to your specific enquiry

• Where the law or a valid legal request requires it

7. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep contact form submissions until the project ends in April 2030, after which they are deleted.

We keep your details for project updates until you unsubscribe or the project ends, whichever comes first. When you unsubscribe, we remove your details from our mailing list.

You can ask us to delete your information earlier at any time (see Section 8).

8. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you

• Have inaccurate information corrected

• Have your information erased (the "right to be forgotten")

• Restrict or object to how we process your information

• Receive your data in a portable format (data portability)

• Withdraw your consent to receiving project updates at any time

• Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk)
